Dallas Cowboys
World’s Largest HDTV Screen May Give Jerry Jones World’s Largest Headache
It's 17 days until the official start of the NFL season and you might be finding yourself browsing the high-def TV aisle at Walmart picturing how great it would be to get an HDTV so big that you could see blades of grass on your favorite player's cleats. (Actually, given the recent economic woes, you're probably duct-taping your old set back together and complaining about how the picture quality hasn't been the same since the digital switch-over last February). If you do decide to spring for a new TV this season, you'll probably grapple with the following questions: will it fit in my living room? How about my den? Can I find a spot where it won't be damaged by the dog or my kids? How high do I have to put it so that my three-year-old won't smear his fingerprints all over the screen? Click Here to Read More

Well, if you've successfully pondered these rudimentary questions of interior design, then congratulations. Grab your measuring tape and take the bus down to Arlington because you are officially more qualified than the architects at HKS (not to mention Cowboys owner Jerry Jones) and should offer your services to the Cowboys Stadium immediately. Why? Because if you were spending $1.15 billion dollars building a new football stadium, you might have considered the fact that people will actually be playing football there. Gee, you might have asked yourself, how high can these big, strong football players punt? Perhaps I should consider that before I hang up the world's biggest HDTV video display board.
Yes, despite the fact that Jerry Jones has been actively planning the Cowboys Stadium for 15 years, Friday night's home opener against the Tennessee Titans showed that Jones failed to consider that opposing teams just might use the world's largest video board as the world's largest bullseye. This is exactly what took place. Before the game, the Titans warmed up by aiming for the screen and, since it's only 90-feet high, you don't have to be Andy Lee or Jeff Feagles to make contact. In fact, Tennessee backup A.J. Trapasso hit it once during the game, prompting a do-over, and nearly hit it a second time. This has caused a stir amongst NFL officials, though they're keeping mum on what they plan to do about the situation.
"We are aware of it and will continue to monitor it,'' NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Saturday.
How high does a well-placed punt go? Obviously, heights vary based on the length of the kick and the strength of the punter. According to an article on football physics on the website "How Stuff Works," however, a football punted at 45 degrees could potentially reach 120 feet, while a football punted at 60 degrees could soar to 179 feet. Obviously, what physicists write down on paper does not necessarily translate into reality, but during pre-installation tests at the stadium, Dallas' punter Mat McBriar was able to easily clear the 100-foot mark.
So if the Cowboys knew that their punter could get the football 10 feet higher than the video board, why did they insist on placing the board five feet below the league's minimum height? The answer to that question can only be found in the mind of legendary Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Jones' logic: McBriar was trying to hit the score board, so his punts were unrealistically high; in a game, a punt will have a much lower arc and will usually be aimed towards a sideline, not down the middle. Despite the outcome of Friday's game, however, Jones defends his decision.
"I'm not worried about it,'' he said. "I'm very comfortable that our height on our scoreboard is OK.''
His team, however, is not so sure. Both Cowboys and Titans alike have suggested that the board should be raised. After the game, Trapasso told reporters that "it's nothing that is going to happen every time, but it's there...I don't know how much further up it can go, but it's in the way. ... It does not matter where you kick it from, it is just right there in the middle of the field. It's always something that you're going to be thinking about.''
Cowboys coach Wade Phillips, however, told journalists that he suspected that the Titans were intentionally trying to hit the board and that only time would tell if the screen height is a problem. Many others from the Cowboys staff have also advocated a wait-and-see approach.
It will be up to the league and to the Cowboys' staff to come up with a solution. Some commentators have suggested, however, that the Cowboys should act sooner rather than later. After Dallas plays the San Francisco 49'ers on Saturday night, there will be three weeks until the Sept 20th home opener against the New York Giants, which would be the biggest window of opportunity to raise the height and prevent eager punters from leaving their mark on the screen. Ideally, the Cowboys would install a mechanism to allow the screen to be raised and lowered at the push of a button, but this would costly.
No one knows how much the fix would cost, but it's likely that Jerry Jones would be reaching deeper into his pockets. Jones has already shelled out over $525 million to pay for the overrun costs on the stadium and he's understandably hesitant to make such a pricey change based on the outcome of just one game.
Whether the Cowboys choose to raise the screen, install a way to change the screen's height when necessary, or leave it be and hope that opposing teams don't design plays around hitting the screen and taking advantage of the do-over remains to be seen. It's likely, however, that changes to the screen will cost enough money to buy yourself 10 new HDTVs, re-decorate your living room in the colors of your favorite team, take your wife on an expensive cruise to apologize for your decorating changes, and maybe buy a few dozen seasons tickets for yourself and your friends with enough money left over for to keep your buddies in beer and nachos for the next 20 years.

For 2014 A few teams stand out as going to the Super Bowl, the San Diego Chargers, the New England Patriots, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Falcons. They all seem to have made key changes to effect their game for the positive. Out of those four, the Patriots and the Falcons really have honed in to what they needed to accomplish over the off season, and so they will be in the Super Bowl.
New York Giants
We have NFL Football tickets for all home and away New York Giants games. The New York Giants have been surprisingly quiet. Wide receivers Amani Toomer and Plaxico Burress are not part of the team anymore. Who will fill that void? Does Eli Manning have it again? Even if Eli has got it, they would be a long shot for the Super Bowl

Atlanta Falcons
We stock tickets for all Atlanta Falcon NFL games at the Georgia Dome. Atlanta has made all the right moves this off season. They have kept all their key players, quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Michael Turner, and wide reciever Roddy White. They added an excellent tight end in Tony Gonzalez, and linebacker Mike Petersen. They are ripe for a repeat performance from last year.
