2014 San Diego Chargers – Philip River Team
The gradual transition into a team that belongs to Philip Rivers and not LaDainian Tomlinson has occurred over the last two seasons. The Pro Bowl running back has faded into the background and now Philip Rivers has arisen as the leader of this tea. Along the way the Chargers have evolved from a run oriented team into one of the highest scoring teams in the NFL, relying on the passing game to put points on the board. In 2009 River topped the 4,000 yard mark and threw 28 touchdown passes. More importantly, Philip Rivers is the guy Chargers players turn to when the going gets tough. His rapport with wide receiver Vincent Jackson and tight end Antonio Gates makes the Chargers offense as dangerous as any in the league. The emergence of running back Ryan Mathews as a pounding back, and the quick hits of Darren Sproles, gives the San Diego Chargers a potent running game to finish things off.
There have been some big changes on the defensive side of the ball also. Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera inherited a team with basically no pass defense and elevated them into the upper half of the NFL. Using Shawne Merriman and Shaun Philips as outside pass rushers from a 3-4 attack, Rivera can pressure quarterbacks while stopping the run in the middle. He’ll have to meet the challenge of replacing Antonio Cromartie, but with 1st Rounder Antoine Cason coming into his own, the San Diego Chargers match up well with most anyone.

 For 2014 A few teams stand out as going to the Super Bowl, the San Diego Chargers, the New England Patriots, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Falcons. They all seem to have made key changes to effect their game for the positive. Out of those four, the Patriots and the Falcons really have honed in to what they needed to accomplish over the off season, and so they will be in the Super Bowl.
